CleanSaƒe® Screen
Question and Answers
Regularly we get questions regarding the cleaning and protection of screens and the role in this of CleanSaƒe® Screen and CleanSaƒe® Cloth . Following are the key question and answers.
-
Why do I have to treat my screen with a special cleaner and protector?
Virtually all screens ( TV/ Laptop /TFT / LCD / Plasma) are treated with coatings (for many reasons incl. picture enhancement, better contrasts, less glare, less radiation etc.). These coating are mostly very thin layers of plastic which are sprayed or glued to the surface. These thin layers are soft and (very) sensitive to the use of aggressive cleaning products. CleanSaƒe® Screen is sofar the only tool which is SAFE and has been approved and/or tested by/on most brands.
-
Is it dangerous to work with liquids on screens?
The answer is full heartedly: YES, with one exception:
CleanSaƒe® Screen . The reason is that CleanSaƒe® Screen has been developed to work in electronically environments and can virtually not cause short-circuiting (ask details from your dealer). The technology (contacts) of most new screens is in the bottom of the screen. The risk (dripping-in) is therefore substantial! ONLY use CleanSaƒe® Screen !

What are aggressive, unsuitable, cleaning products and why?
All liquids which contain alcohol or a version thereof, caustic liquids, ‘high-calcium’(hard) water and/or which are acid, salt or soapy negatively affect plastics (the number one material used for coatings). The ultimate result is: ‘hair cracking’; discoloring; small holes of the ‘top’ layers of your screens. This will result in your screens looking badly, discoloring, stripes or points, becoming dull, show scratches etc. These damages are permanent and irreversible,
-
Why is ‘protection’ required?
- As mentioned in previous answers coated screens are soft and (very) sensitive to damages. Aggressive body liquids (perspiration on hands e.g.) can damage the screens similar to aggressive cleaners (see above). But also a whole range of other liquids and substances e.g. on children hands can damage the screens.
- Screens become dirty because they attract dust (statical influences)
For a.o. these two reasons it is ESSENTIAL that a cleaning product also has a good protection factor. As far as we know CleanSaƒe® Screen is the only product worldwide which has an effective, invisible (using nano-technology) protection layer. This layer is extremely thin, optically neutral but can be experienced when the screen is touched.
-
Does CleanSaƒe® Screen remove all stains on a screen?
The answer is NO. Some stains can only be removed with aggressive liquids. Preferably not, but… if you have no other choice use it. BUT IF you do that, always clean the screen IMMEDIATELY after that with CleanSaƒe® Screen to remove the aggressive liquid and to apply the absolutely required protection layer (see previous point).
-
Stains or stripes remain on my screen, after using CleanSaƒe® Screen – is that possible and what should I do?
Almost certainly an excess amount of CleanSaƒe® has been used. Thorough polishing (circular motion works very well) often helps. When necessary you can also use a micro fiber towel (do not use normally – see later) and when really required use an aggressive liquid. But … see previous point.
Allthough an increasing number of manufacturers use
CleanSaƒe® Screen also in their factories to clean screens and protect them prior to sending the equipment to the customers, not all do that. Unprotected screens (refer to 3) are very sensitive to damages. Treat your screen with CleanSaƒe® Screen immediately after unpacking!
-
Why do I have to use a clean cotton towel or a CleanSaƒe® Cloth ? Why can I e.g. not use a general micro fiber towel or a tissue.
As mentioned in point 1 and 3 coated screens are soft and sensitive to damages. Very small dust particles, including chalk can damage your screen beyond repair. Therefore we strongly suggest to only use completely clean cotton towels or CleanSaƒe® Cloth to clean and protect your screen. Micro fiber towels are made to optimally collect dust and dirt. The collected material increases the risk of damages, also micro fiber towels prevent correctly applying the protection layer. Therefore do not use them!
Also do not use tissues etc. They are made out of paper and other potentially sanding material – a high risk for coated screens!
-
My instruction for use mentions to only clean my screen with a dry or damp towel – can I use CleanSaƒe® Screen without problems?
CleanSaƒe® Screen has been tested / approved on and by virtually all major screen manufacturers. All components of CleanSaƒe® Screen are completely safe. In case of… ask your supplier and/or distributor of CleanSaƒe®.
Often cleaning with a dry or almost dry towel (watch for water: calcium and short circuiting risks!) is insufficient to clean screens.
In all cases CleanSaƒe® Screen is a completely safe and optimal choice.
-
Can I push while polishing?
-
NO pushing is not recommended. The harder you push the more risk there is to damage a screen. CleanSaƒe® Screen has components which eliminate the need to push. With tough stains cleaning with circular motions is most effective.
-
Attention: especially TFT / LCD/ LAPTOP screens: The underlying structure of these screens is such that hard pushing is detrimental for the screen it can result in irreversible damages. Never put your thumbs or hands on a screen while lifting it!
